FIGHT BACK: Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is

1. Move Your Money:

Most have already heard of this movement however, it is one of the first empowering steps to take. If you haven’t yet, move your money from a major bank to a credit union or local bank today! We have some great options here in the Bay Area. Click here for more info.

2. Become and Ethical Consumer:

Ethical consumerism: “the practice of purchasing products and services produced in a way that minimises social and/or environmental damage, while avoiding products and services deemed to have a negative impact on society or the environment.” For more info:

3. Shop without Money:

You can obtain some of your needs and wants without spending any money. Two options in the Bay Area are FreeCycle and BACE.

  • Freecycle is a website where people offer goods they no longer need for free. The local FreeCycle is very active. You have to be fast but you can get some great stuff! It is very similar to like Craigslist Free page which is another options but more secure and easier to navigate.
  • BACE is a Time Bank where you exchange time instead of goods or money. If you have anything that you are good at professionally or not that you can provide as a service it can be a simple as companionship that is what you offer. Others do the same. You can offer others time and utilize time to get help with the things you need without anyone spending money directly
